Eligibility for the eVisa

The Saudi eVisa is available to citizens of eligible countries who wish to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for tourism or to perform Umrah. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Travellers under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Holders of valid US, UK or Schengen visas (that have been used at least once) may also be eligible for a Saudi visa on arrival under certain conditions. Residents of GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates) do not require an eVisa and may enter using their national ID cards.

Passport requirements

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into KSA.
  • You must arrive at the KSA border using the same passport you used to apply for the eVisa.
  • Refugee travel documents and identity cards are not accepted.
  • We recommend checking the bilateral agreements between KSA and your country regarding passport validity rules.

Visa validity and duration

The Saudi eVisa is a multi-entry visa valid for one year from the date of issue. During this period, you may enter the Kingdom multiple times, with a maximum stay of 90 days per visit and up to 180 days in total over the validity period.

Overstaying your visa may result in large fines, detention, deportation, and a ban on future travel to Saudi Arabia.

Health insurance

Mandatory medical insurance covering the duration of your stay is included in your eVisa fee. This insurance provides basic medical coverage during your visit to the Kingdom.

Some countries require additional vaccinations:

  • Yellow fever vaccine — required if you are coming from a country listed as a transmission risk.
  • Meningococcal quadrivalent vaccine — required for Hajj or Umrah pilgrims and seasonal workers.

Entry points to KSA

The eVisa is valid for entry through all international airports and seaports of the Kingdom. Holders of Hajj or Umrah visas have specific entry point requirements and should check with the relevant authorities.

You must carry a copy of your eVisa (printed or on your mobile device) at the time of your first arrival to KSA.

Permitted purposes

An eVisa is granted solely for tourist purposes or for performing Umrah. It is not considered a visa for work. If you are granted an eVisa, you must not take up any paid employment during your visit.

Permitted activities include:

  • Tourism, sightseeing and leisure travel.
  • Performing Umrah pilgrimage.
  • Visiting family and friends.
  • Attending cultural events, festivals and entertainment.

Activities outside the approved tourist purpose are not permitted under this eVisa type.

Restricted areas

Access to the following sacred sites is restricted to Muslims:

  • The Holy Mosque and its premises in Makkah.
  • The Prophet's Mosque and its premises in Madinah.

Holders of visit visas are prohibited from entering or staying in the city of Makkah during the Hajj season.

Local laws and conduct

On entering the Kingdom, you will be subject to local laws. Visitors must respect Saudi customs, including:

  • Dressing modestly in public places.
  • Respecting prayer times and religious observances.
  • Observing special rules during Ramadan.
  • Refraining from any act not in accordance with Sharia law or the prevailing legal or moral principles in KSA.

Engaging in activities that violate local laws may result in severe penalties, including deportation and future travel restrictions.

Biometric capture on arrival

Your biometric details (fingerprints and photograph) will be mandatorily captured by the immigration authorities on arrival in KSA. This is a standard procedure for all international visitors.

Before you travel

We strongly recommend the following before your trip:

  • Print a copy of your eVisa and keep a digital copy on your phone.
  • Confirm your flight details and ensure your passport details match your eVisa exactly.
  • Check the current health and entry requirements on the official channels.
  • Declare any items that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty at customs.
  • Ensure you have proof of accommodation and return travel if requested.
  • Have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents during the visit.
